Nvidia enters the PC chip market with new RTX Spark Superchip
Nvidia used its Computex 2026 keynote to announce its entry into the consumer PC chip business with a new processor it calls the RTX Spark Superchip, aimed squarely at the Windows laptop and desktop market long dominated by Intel and AMD. CEO Jensen Huang said the chip — built in partnership with Microsoft — is designed to bring AI-agent capabilities directly into everyday computers, and confirmed that major manufacturers including Dell and Lenovo plan to ship machines built around it later this year. The announcement rattled chip-sector investors, with shares of Intel, AMD and Qualcomm all slipping as analysts weighed the competitive threat Nvidia's move poses to established players in the PC processor space.
