What the currency converter does

Pick two currencies, type an amount and see the converted value straight away. The converter supports 20 major world currencies and fetches current exchange rates in your browser. Live rates come from European Central Bank data, which does not include PKR, AED, SAR or RUB. For those, the tool uses an approximate rate and says so on screen. A swap button reverses the pair, and a refresh button reloads the rates and shows when they were last updated.

Rates are cached for a short time to avoid repeated requests. If you are offline or the rate service cannot be reached, the tool falls back to built-in approximate rates so it still works, and it tells you that fallback values are in use.

How to use it

  • Choose the currency you have and the one you want.
  • Enter the amount. The result updates as you type.
  • Use swap to reverse the direction, and refresh to update the rates.
  • Check the last-updated time shown below the result.

Why you will not get exactly this rate at a bank

The numbers here are mid-market style reference rates. Banks, card networks and exchange counters add a margin or a fee, so the amount you actually receive is usually lower. Check the total cost, including fees, before you send money or exchange cash. For payments and trading, use your provider quoted rate.

Tips

  • Round numbers for quick estimates, but use the exact value when comparing offers.
  • Rates move during the day. For large transfers, check again right before you act.
  • This tool is for information, not financial advice.
